Community Life

RUNNYMEDE LIFE – SOUTH EDITION | APRIL 2022

Here we are in April. Seeing the garden in bloom again is definitely helping to lift my spirits.

Just when we thought we were getting out of a difficult time with Covid, further suffering in Ukraine began. This can affect our mental health so seek help if you are starting to feel depressed or lack of motivation and mood shifts. Don’t be afraid to reach out if the events of the last 2 years and the uncertainty of the war in Ukraine is affecting your ability to look after yourself properly. That is what community is all about and we are fortunate to have several options for help available. Please read Sarah Stannard’s guide to identifying potential mental health warning signs.

Great to see our events section growing and lots happening over the Easter period. We went the Laughing Chili’s comedy night at the Addlestone Community Centre recently and I’ll be the first to admit, I haven’t laughed like that in a long time. All the acts were very good and great to be out and about again.

Runnymede Borough Local Elections take place on 5th May. Please make an effort to register to vote if you have just moved to the area or have yet to do so. In essence, it is our democratic responsibility and is considered a freedom to choose our electors. Please make an effort to cast your vote. It counts in so many ways.

Yours faithfully,
