The Chertsey Combined Charity is one of Chertsey’s oldest Charities. It is able to give grants to local residents and community-based organisations in the original Parish of Chertsey, thus it includes Addlestone, Chertsey, Lyne, Ottershaw, Rowtown and parts of Woodham.
The Management Trust Deed stipulates that the Charity shall apply its income for the reduction of need, hardship and/or distress suffered by qualifying persons, either generally or individually. The Charity now disperses approximately £50,000 each year.
Past Grants
Over the last 30 years, the Charity has dispersed approximately £1 million to the local community. Recently the Charity has given major contributions to a) Stepgates School, Chertsey, towards the swimming pool, b) refurbishment of Ottershaw Village Hall, c) new toilets at Penton Park Community Centre, d) building the new Scout HQ, Chertsey, e) refurbishment of the CAB Office at Addlestone and e) a pledge toward Addlestone Canoe Club’s new building.
In addition, annual grants are given at Christmas to local Community Clubs and Day Centres. The Charity also provides and replenishes small discretion funds administered by local church leaders, school heads, the Citizens Advice Bureau, Voluntary Services North Surrey and the Salvation Army under the supervision of individual liaison Trustees.
Applications for Assistance
An application form is available for individual assistance, and another, more detailed one, for use by organisations.
Both types are available from the Charity’s Secretary at PO Box 89, Weybridge, Surrey KT13 8HY (e-mail: charity@mickey.me.uk).
In order to qualify for consideration at the next available meeting of the Board of Trustees which are held during February, May, August and November each year, applications for grants must be submitted before the 1st of that month for Agenda inclusion. For grants over £1,000 the applicants will be invited to give a presentation to the Board meeting outlining their project. Smaller grants may be awarded in between main Board meetings.
