SUPPORTING LOCAL BUSINESS

DR BEN SPENCER MP

It has been an absolute delight, now restrictions are lifting, to get out and about again visiting and supporting our local businesses. The simple pleasures of going to the gym, the pub, and getting a haircut make us realise how tough the past year has been, but also how far we have come. It has been great to see the positivity in our community from the easing of covid restrictions and how our local shops have been working so hard to get ready to reopen, ensuring all covid secure measures are in place, and how customers are returning to support them now we are able.

Of course not all businesses have been able to reopen yet, and I am looking forward to when indoor hospitality, entertainment venues, such as cinemas and children’s play areas, and indoor gym classes can resume from 17 May. It is so important that we continue to support our high streets and local businesses. The Government announced new grant funding to

help businesses meet the costs and challenges of reopening, including through the new Restart Grant Scheme. This funding does differ from previous grants and each business needs to apply individually. Details of how to apply are available here:

But of course the best support is the return of customers.  Please support our high streets by shopping local, observe the covid secure measures in place, and help local businesses build back!
