Community Life

CHERTSEY LIFE | SEPTEMBER 2020

Welcome to the first edition of Chertsey Life, our community magazine that will keep you informed on news and events in Chertsey – connecting you with our community.  Our lives have changed in the last few months and community has become much more important.  In some ways, Covid 19 has caused us to distance from one another, but in another, it has brought us together and made us rethink what is important in our daily lives.  Working from home, local shops and amenities along with a friendly wave from a neighbour.  Chertsey Life will be delivered free to you with 11 publications over the year.

Chertsey’s history will be explored through our monthly contribution from local historians in the Chertsey Society, along with our curator, Emma Warren at the Chertsey Museum.  Our community police inspector, Nick Pinkerton will keep us updated on police matters with Chertsey Beat and the Ashford and St Peter’s Trust will give us updates from St Peter’s NHS Hospital and in our healthcare system.

We have lots of community organisations including the Chertsey Rotary and Runnymede Dementia Carers Support, along with hearing from Runnymede Borough Council on local council issues.  We have access to the beautiful River Thames and will have a section on news & views on the river.

We will be able to connect on articles and stories from local contributors and aim to think community first, ‘can I buy something local before shopping on the internet to save our high street?’  ‘Can I walk somewhere rather than drive’ and take advantage of all our green space in and around the Chertsey area.  Highlighting local and community is our purpose, and we hope you enjoy every article and issue of Chertsey Life, a magazine for and about our community.

Yours faithfully,
